Fawzi Luqach, Minister of Economy, Finance, and Public Efficiency, stated that the plan to develop sports facilities and football academies in Morocco is based on technical and service criteria aimed at benefiting youth and future generations, completely distancing itself from any political or electoral considerations related to parties or electoral mandates.

Luqach made these remarks in response to the ongoing discussion about establishing an academy for Al-Ittihad Club of Yaqub Al-Mansour in the Salé region, emphasizing during a meeting of the Finance and Economic Development Committee in the House of Representatives on Wednesday that work in the football sector should transcend the political management logic that constantly changes with shifting programs and officials, and should instead focus on the public interest of youth and future generations.

Regarding the choice of location for the Al-Ittihad Club of Yaqub Al-Mansour football academy outside the neighborhood, the minister, who also serves as the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, clarified that the decision was made based on purely logistical and real estate considerations; it is difficult to find a space of 5 to 6 hectares in the capital, Rabat, to establish a project of this size. He noted that the direction towards the outskirts of Rabat and cities like Salé and Temara aims to create a comprehensive sports center that serves the entire region, drawing on the experience of the Mohammed VI Complex in Maamoura, which began with facilitation from the Salé municipality.

The official recalled previous events in "positive cooperation" with local officials of various political orientations, referring to the rehabilitation of Hassan II Stadium in Fes, where the initiative of the city's mayor was responded to, allowing clubs in the scientific capital to continue competing and training during the closure of the large sports complex for rehabilitation work in preparation for continental competitions.

The speaker confirmed that these sports centers open their doors to all talents regardless of their geographical affiliations or birth documents, noting that the project is part of a comprehensive professional plan that includes major clubs and will be expanded to include other clubs.

Luqach responded to the criticisms accompanying the mentioned project, considering that attempts to link the construction of sports facilities to the names of parliamentary deputies or ministers lack credibility, stressing that the focus should be on enabling amateur clubs and regions with limited resources to obtain essential equipment.
