Netherlands: Hamache holds AZ and makes history with Cambuur! (video)

Arriving in the Netherlands in a move that surprised many during the transfer window, Ilyes Hamache is proving his decision was the right one. The Franco-Algerian winger is racking up goals and is already making his mark in the recent history of Cambuur.
Ilyes Hamache continues to make a name for himself in the Netherlands. Starting on Sunday against AZ Alkmaar, the Franco-Algerian winger for Cambuur found the back of the net again, scoring his fourth goal of the season in the Eredivisie. This goal highlights his excellent adaptation to the Dutch league.
His team faced the second-placed side, and after taking the lead and then seeing the opponent equalize, Hamache restored his team's advantage in the 39th minute with a beautiful curled shot from the right at the edge of the box, directed into the far corner of the net.
The 23-year-old is building an impressive home record. Hamache has now scored four goals in his last three home matches. He becomes only the third player in Cambuur's history to score in three consecutive home matches in the Eredivisie, following Michael Mols in 1993 and Sander van de Streek in 2015.
This success contrasts with his previous stint at Amiens, where he was on loan from Schalke 04. Hamache participated in 32 matches across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing one assist, without really managing to show such consistency.
His decision to join Cambuur last summer had indeed raised eyebrows. Returning to Schalke, freshly promoted to the Bundesliga, Hamache chose to commit permanently to the Dutch newcomer until 2029, with an additional year as an option. A few months later, this risk is clearly starting to pay off.
