Rafik Guitane shows his return to form in Portugal. After already scoring in the league, the Algerian international found the net again to keep Estoril in contention in the Cup.

Rafik Guitane played the role of savior for Estoril in the Taça de Portugal. Coming on in the 67th minute against Salgueiros, the Algerian international avoided an elimination that seemed inevitable for his team.

With Estoril trailing 1-0 in the 80th minute, from an incredible goal from midfield, he intervened in the 89th minute to equalize and extend the match for his team.

During the play, Guitane perfectly followed the attack. Positioned in the center of the box, near the penalty spot, he intercepted a low cross to beat the goalkeeper and score the equalizer at 1-1.

This was a crucial goal as no further goals were scored during the thirty extra minutes despite a great effort from Guitane for his teammate Xavi Sintes, who missed his attempt in the 114th minute.

The qualification ultimately came down to penalties. Guitane also took responsibility during this shootout, but his attempt hit the crossbar.

A mistake that proved consequential as Estoril won the match 3-1 and secured their place in the next round, thanks to two saves from their goalkeeper Martin Turk.

The Algerian had already scored in his last match on October 10 against Académico de Viseu in the league. He now follows up with a second consecutive match with a goal. This season, Guitane has 7 appearances in Liga Portugal, including 4 as a starter, totaling 369 minutes played and one goal. With his goal in the Cup, he now has a total of two goals in all competitions.
