Abdel Rahim Nouri, brother of Moroccan player Abdelhak Nouri, provided the latest updates on his brother's health condition, stating that his status is "stable" compared to the early years following the incident that ended his sporting career.

In the Dutch podcast “Schuilen in Schoonheid,” Abdel Rahim Nouri mentioned that his brother is "fine, he is stable, especially when compared to the beginning," adding that Abdelhak cannot speak like his family members do, but they are confident that he understands what is happening around him. They are working on reading his reactions and communicating with him in various ways.

The former player's brother recounted an emotional moment for the family when Abdelhak smiled for the first time after three years since the incident, explaining that family members were gathered when someone said something funny, prompting Nouri to laugh spontaneously with them. He noted that this smile was different for the family, as it represented "a kind of confirmation that he knows who we are and understands us."

Abdel Rahim confirmed that the family continues to hold onto hope for his brother's improvement, stating, "As long as he is alive, anything is possible for his recovery," pointing out that family members have started to interact with him differently, trying to understand what he wants to express despite his inability to speak normally.

Nouri's story is linked to the incident that occurred on July 8, 2017, when he collapsed during a friendly match between Ajax and Werder Bremen in Austria after suffering a cardiac arrest. The player, who was 20 years old at the time, underwent resuscitation on the field before being transported to the hospital, where it was found that he had suffered severe and permanent brain damage due to a lack of oxygen, which ended his promising football career.
