The "Bayt Al-Mal" agency supports the "Jerusalem Championship."

The second edition of the "Jerusalem Throwdown 2026" functional fitness championship concluded on Sunday at Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho. The event was organized with support from the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Ash-Sharif Agency, with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to cancer patients at Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Ash-Sharif Agency stated in a press release that supporting this championship aligns with encouraging Palestinian youth initiatives that integrate sports with social responsibility, utilizing sports activities to serve humanitarian causes, particularly in supporting cancer patients in Jerusalem.
The agency explained that this initiative reflects its commitment, under the guidance of King Mohammed VI, President of the Jerusalem Committee, to support the resilience of Jerusalemites and their institutions, focusing on groups in need of assistance and care.
The championship, organized by young Jerusalemites Fadi Al-Waari and Mahmoud Sharaf under the slogan "From the Land of History... Legends Are Made," saw participation from 220 male and female athletes from Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the 1948 territories, along with more than 12 participants from outside Palestine.
Fadi Al-Waari, one of the organizers, stated that allocating part of the revenues to support cancer patients stems from social responsibility. He noted that holding the event in October is linked to breast cancer awareness campaigns and the need to support patients coming from the West Bank and Gaza Strip to Jerusalem hospitals for treatment, especially those without insurance coverage for their medical costs.
Al-Waari pointed out that the revenues from the championship come from athlete registration fees and contributions from supporting companies and institutions, primarily the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Ash-Sharif Agency, as well as participation from small local businesses, which are given the opportunity to showcase their products and connect with the audience.
The same organizer confirmed that the agency's support contributed to developing the championship concept and improving its organization, explaining that the organizers aim to establish a Palestinian sports event that attracts participants from both inside and outside Palestine, while maintaining the identity of Jerusalem in all its details.
Mahmoud Sharaf, another organizer, considered that dedicating part of the revenues to cancer patients at the Al-Maqasid Hospital reflects the responsibility of Palestinian youth towards their community and highlights the potential of using sports competitions to support humanitarian initiatives.
Sharaf added that the support from the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Ash-Sharif Agency enhances the youth's confidence in their ability to turn their ideas into viable projects and encourages them to organize activities that combine sports and social work.
The speaker expressed appreciation for the support of King Mohammed VI and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Ash-Sharif Agency for Jerusalemite and Palestinian youth, emphasizing the organizers' pride in Moroccan support for the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem.
On the sports front, Asid Warda, a player from the "Barrio" Academy, expressed his happiness at winning first place in the championship, noting that dedicating part of the proceeds to support cancer patients added a humanitarian dimension to the participation and encouraged athletes to engage in supporting this group.
For his part, Samir Ghanem, who took second place, confirmed that the humanitarian aspect of the championship was an additional motivation for participating, calling for continued initiatives aimed at helping cancer patients and providing them with the necessary support.
The "Jerusalem Throwdown" championship derives its identity from its connection to the city of Jerusalem, as its entrance designs, medals, and trophies, along with the names of events and visual displays, are inspired by the city's walls, gates, and historical landmarks, with the aim of raising awareness of Jerusalem's history and identity among participants and the audience.
The championship activities spanned two days and included, in addition to the sports competitions, a market for brands and local projects, a space for children, areas designated for players and recovery, as well as interactive shows and activities that combine sports with promoting Jerusalem's heritage and supporting local economic initiatives.
