The national handball team for under-19s concluded its campaign in the African championship held in Abidjan, finishing in ninth place.
The "Greens" secured a victory against Burundi today, Monday, in the match for the ninth and tenth places, with a score of 37-34.
The national team trailed in the first half, ending the period 14-17 in favor of Burundi, but the "Greens" managed to turn the tables in the second half, finishing the match with a three-goal margin.
With this win, the U19 team wrapped up its participation in the 22nd edition of the continental championship on a high note, having started its journey with a significant victory over Madagascar, winning 36-15 in the group stage.
They then lost to Nigeria 25-26, followed by another defeat against Tunisia 31-33, results that prevented the team from advancing to the quarter-finals. The team continued to compete for placement and managed to finish the tournament in ninth place, also winning the placement match for ninth to twelfth against Congo, with a score of 35-23.
