Kaylia Nemour wins a third gold medal: Algeria shines at the 2026 Youth Olympics this Wednesday.

Algeria has added two new titles to its medal tally at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, thanks to Yasser Triki, a master of the triple jump, and Kaylia Nemour, unbeatable on the apparatus. With five gold medals recorded by 6:30 PM, the delegation has already achieved its best performance since the start of the competition.

Yasser Triki dominates the triple jump on his first attempt

He left no room for suspense. On his first attempt, the Algerian athlete achieved a jump measured at 16.61 meters, enough to take the lead in the competition. His second attempt, even more impressive, propelled him to 16.97 meters, a mark that no one could approach.

The rest of the competition seemed like a mere formality. His rivals battled for the silver and bronze medals while the Algerian jumper managed his energy. Another major event awaits him: in two days, he will participate in the Diamond League final in Brussels, one of the highlights of the international season.

Kaylia Nemour secures a third title on the beam

The Algerian gymnast continues to write her own legend. On the beam, the most demanding apparatus in terms of nerves, she scored 13.300 points. This total was achieved despite a fall during her performance, showcasing the level of difficulty and the quality of execution in the rest of her routine.

This is her third title since the start of the gymnastics events. The Olympic champion thus confirms her status as an iconic figure of the delegation, having already kicked off the golden harvest alongside Cylia Ouikane in the early days of the tournament.

Her consistency is even more impressive as she competes in apparatus finals within just a few days. Each routine earns her a medal, and Algeria is building a significant part of its tally thanks to her.

Algerian athletics completes the harvest with two bronze medals

The competitions and races at the stadium have also favored the national colors. Zahra Tatar took the third step of the podium in the hammer throw, with a throw measured at 66.88 meters. A solid performance against strong Mediterranean competition.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Omar Seraiche also clinched bronze. The runner finished his race in 8:47.31, staying with the lead pack until the last obstacles. Two additional podiums that enrich an already well-stocked medal table.

A memorable day for the Algerian delegation in Taranto

Never before in this edition had the team accumulated so much in such a short time. The count as of 6:30 PM on Wednesday stood at five gold medals, along with silver and bronze podiums achieved by other disciplines.

Gymnastics and athletics carry the bulk of this momentum. These two sports feature the best Algerian talents of the moment, with athletes seasoned in major international competitions. The contrast with previous editions is striking, where titles were rare.
