Reasons for the Failure of the Morocco-Argentina Friendly
Reports from Argentina indicate that negotiations between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the Argentine Football Association regarding the organization of a friendly match between the Moroccan and Argentine national teams have stalled during the international break in October.
According to circulating information, the Moroccan side offered a financial package of one million dollars to host the Argentine team in the capital, Rabat, for a friendly match at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, as part of preparations for upcoming commitments.
The same source stated that the Argentine federation chose not to accept the offer, preferring to have the national team play its upcoming friendlies within Argentina, allowing local fans the opportunity to follow and celebrate the team at home.
Reports confirmed that the Argentine side's decision is not related to the financial value offered by Morocco, nor does it stem from any technical or sporting stance towards the Moroccan national team. Instead, it is based on scheduling choices concerning the Argentine team's organization for the upcoming period.
Thus, it appears that the chances of a much-anticipated encounter between the two teams in October have currently faded, despite the fact that negotiations had reached advanced stages previously.
Meanwhile, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation continues its efforts to secure strong friendly matches for the national team, aiming to face high-level teams and benefit from these experiences in preparation for upcoming official competitions.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team will begin its journey in the qualifiers for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations with a match against Gabon on September 25, starting at 19:00 GMT, at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, officiated by South African referee Abongile Tom.
In the second round, the national team will visit Lesotho on September 29, starting at 13:00 GMT, at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa, officiated by Cameroonian referee Abdo Abdil Mfir.
