Algeria U17: Predictable defeat against Croatia (video)
The young Greens suffered a heavy defeat against Croatia's U18 team in their second friendly match on Croatian soil.
The national U17 "A" team was outclassed by the Croatian U18s, who won the match 3-0 on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Branko Čavlović-Čavlek Stadium in Karlovac.
The Cadets held firm against the Croatians until the 41st minute, when they conceded the first goal scored by Jakov Dedic, the Hoffenheim forward. In the second half, the Croatians added two more goals, one from Endi Veljacic and another own goal by Kenzo Brignone.
Under the guidance of Amine Ghimouz, the Greens were tested by a high-caliber opponent, a match that will provide them with valuable lessons ahead of their next global challenge.
After a victory against Saudi Arabia and this defeat against Croatia, the Greens are set to play their third match against Hungary on October 2 at 11:30 AM.
For reference, this tournament is a preparation for the FIFA U17 World Cup – 2026, which will take place next November in Qatar.
