The first match will feature South Korea against Italy. The South Koreans secured their quarterfinal spot by eliminating Argentina (1-0), while Italy had to go through a penalty shootout to triumph over China (1-1, 5-4). Marking their return to the competition after 14 years, the Italians are playing their first quarterfinal in U20 World Cup history.
The other match will see Brazil take on Spain. The Spaniards had a perfect run in the group stage with three victories and 16 goals scored, before defeating Portugal 2-0 in the Round of 16. Brazil, also unbeaten in the group stage, eliminated the United States in a penalty shootout (1-1, 5-4) in the previous round. Spain aims for a third semifinal qualification, while Brazil looks to extend its journey ahead of hosting the senior Women's World Cup in 2027.
