Slimani: “I Do Not Expect Any Honor from the FAF”
Algerian international Islam Slimani stated that he does not expect any honor from the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), despite being the all-time top scorer for the "Fennecs" with 46 goals in 105 international matches.
When asked about the possibility of being honored like Riyad Mahrez and Aissa Mandi, Slimani replied: “Certainly not.. If it was supposed to happen, it would have happened already, I do not expect anything, and it hasn’t crossed my mind.”
The all-time top scorer for the "Fennecs" confirmed in an interview with French newspaper "L'Équipe" that he has done what he needs to do for Algeria, his family, and those who care about him, noting that the issue of honor is not the most important thing for him.
He concluded his remarks on the subject: “I have done what I had to do for my country, my family, and loved ones.. After that, whether there is an honor or not, that is not the most important thing; what matters is the interest of our nation.”
